Description
For many, many reasons, the 1986-87 Fleer basketball set has been one of the most crucial to the collecting of sports cards. This is mostly because the star power of Hall of Famers has kept the interest and value strong. Within the set, the hallmark of any great basketball card collection is the Michael Jordan rookie. For about seven years, no recognized manufacturer marketed basketball cards. That was until Fleer entered the fray in 1986. The big card was that of Jordan.
Other star rookies in the modern masterpiece set, include Danny Ainge, Charles Barkley, Clyde Drexler, Joe Dumars, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin, Hakeem Olajuwon, Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins and James Worthy.
Presented from the set is a rare opportunity to get the Michael Jordan card in its natural form before cut and distributed by Fleer into packs. It is in the form of a 12-card individual strip that originated from a full sheet. The strip is approx. 2-1/2″ x 42″ and show the printer’s color coding along the bottom. The strip is not affixed to anything within the frame. The display measures in at 8″ x 49″.
Names included on the sheet along with the stellar Michael Jordan rookie card on the bottom include: Karl Malone (rookie); Calvin Natt; Robert Reid; Jerry Sichting; Sedale Threat; Buck Williams; Alvin Adams; Sam Bowie; Darryl Dawkins; World B. Free and Roy Hinson. Note, the back of the sheet shows some foxing from age/storage. This is most noticeable on the edges and bottom cards including the Jordan rookie. Overall however, a wonderful opportunity to own a pure state Jordan rookie (and Malone) without the distribution in rare form.
All displays are sold as is without warranty to the condition of the frame. This item is oversized and will incur a shipping surcharge.
