Description
Artist Palmer Murphy is well known for his bronze statues. One is proudly displayed at the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and another is showcased at the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore. Murphy’s art is not limited to sculpture as he works in different mediums like portraiture in oil, acrylic, watercolor and charcoal. All of his creations display exceptionally well for collectors.
Presented is a miniature bronze figurine of Babe Ruth by artist Palmer Murphy. It is 5-3/4″ tall and shows Ruth in a Boston Red Sox uniform pitching. He stands on a round platform with his name “Babe Ruth” facsimile signature scripted across the front in a small square. Another side of the circular platform features the date 1994 and artist Palmer Murphy.
Note: The thumb on his left hand has been broke off. It is not noticeable upon display. Still a fantastic statue.
It should be noted, there was another companion piece in this edition that featured a unique 1/1 Ty Cobb which sold recently in auction ($3000). Presumably this style (Ruth pitching) figurine was not cast as a 1/1. On record is one that was also presented to David Wells in 1998 while he was pitching for the Yankees.
