Description
Derek Fisher is the only player in NBA history who has played against every team of a conference in the postseason. Fisher has played against (and beaten!) every Western Conference team in the playoffs. The closest player to achieve this feat is LeBron James. He played against 14 out of 15 teams from the Eastern Conference (he never faced the Cavaliers).
Presented is Derek Fisher’s game worn Los Angeles Lakers jersey from the 2003-04 NBA Finals. This jersey is from one of two games held on June 13th and/or June 15th when the Lakers wore purple in Detroit. The Reebok road jersey is primarily purple, with yellow and white accents on the side panels. The Lakers team logo, his number “2,” and “FISHER” is applied to the jersey in the classic yellow/white tackle-twill. An NBA emblem rests near the left shoulder. An NBA Authentics/Reebok size “50” tag appears near the tail, bearing “Length +4” and “2003-2004” flags. The jersey is highlighted by the special Finals trophy patch on the right portion of the chest. Overall, the jersey shows great wear throughout with some noticible on the upper part of the front numeral (presumably sweat).
Note that although we do not have a photo match from the Finals, we do have a photo style match for Fisher wearing this jersey in the Finals. The jersey also includes a brief provenance letter from his family friend who obtained the jersey along with other personal/game items directly from Fisher.
The 2004 NBA Finals was the championship round of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) 2003–04 season, and the conclusion of the season’s playoffs. This season’s NBA Finals was contested between the Western Conference playoff champion Los Angeles Lakers and the Eastern Conference playoff champion Detroit Pistons. The Lakers held home court advantage, and the series was played under a best-of-seven format. The Pistons won the series 4-1 for the Championship.
