Description
Derek Fisher is the only player in NBA history who has played against every team of a conference in the postseason. Fisher has played against (and beaten!) every Western Conference team in the playoffs. The closest player to achieve this feat is LeBron James. He played against 14 out of 15 teams from the Eastern Conference (he never faced the Cavaliers).
Presented is Derek Fisher’s game worn Los Angeles Lakers jersey from the 2009-10 NBA Finals. This jersey is from the games held on June 7th when the Lakers wore white at home. That is the only game the team wore white in the series. The Adidas jersey is primarily white, with yellow and purple accents on the side panels. The Lakers team logo, his number “2,” and “FISHER” is applied to the jersey in the classic yellow/purple tackle-twill. An NBA emblem rests near the left shoulder. An NBA Authentics/Adidas size “50” tag appears near the tail, bearing “Length +4” and “2009-2010”, Climalite flags. The jersey is highlighted by the special Finals trophy patch on the right portion of the chest. Overall, the jersey shows great wear throughout with loose threading, malleable tagging and ruckling on the identifiers.
Note, that although we do not have a photo match from the Finals, we do have a photo style match for Fisher wearing this jersey in the Finals. Derek Fisher #2 of the Los Angeles Lakers loses the ball against Rajon Rondo #9 of the Boston Celtics in Game Two of the 2010 NBA Finals at Staples Center on June 6, 2010. We don’t have a photo match, however, it is close and definite photo style. The jersey also includes a brief provenance letter from his family friend who obtained the jersey along with other personal/game items directly from Fisher.
The 2009 NBA Finals was the championship series of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) 2008–09 season and the conclusion of the season’s playoffs. A best-of-seven playoff series starting on June 4 and concluding on June 14, 2009, it was contested between the Western Conference champion Los Angeles Lakers, and the Eastern Conference champion Orlando Magic. The Lakers were heavily favored to win the championship over the Magic. The Lakers defeated the Magic, four games to one, to win the franchise’s 15th NBA championship. Kobe Bryant was named the Finals MVP. The Orlando Magic’s Game 3 victory was the first win in an NBA Finals game in franchise history; they were previously swept in 1995 by the Houston Rockets.
