The city of Angels has seen the likes of Chamberlain, Abdul Jabbar, Magic, Kobe, Shaq and now LeBron. Championship rings are the normal chase with every year part of the adventure. Derek Fisher was a memorable component of the Lakers in their Championship runs and trophies. This warm-up originates from a personal friend of Fisher.
One of Fisher’s finest playoff moments came on May 13, 2004, in Game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference semifinals between the Lakers and the defending champion San Antonio Spurs. The series was tied at 2 games apiece, and Game 5 was a closely contested affair. With 11 seconds remaining, Kobe Bryant hit a jump shot to put the Lakers up 72–71. Tim Duncan then made a fadeaway 18-footer over Shaquille O’Neal to give the Spurs a 73–72 lead with 0.4 seconds on the clock.
Derek Fisher wore this warm-up jacket during the NBA Championship Finals during the 2007-08 season. The game-worn warm-up shirt in their classic colors shows solid wear. The front showcases the Lakers logo in purple and Adidas brand in the chest area. The back also features the NBA and Adidas logo. The interior collar tagging features the Adidas [size] XL tall and NBA Authentics / Lakers. Derek Fisher’s number “2” written in black felt tip on the front Adidas tail tag. The sleeves are decorated with special patches sewn on – the left has the 60th Anniversary patch, the right has a Championship trophy patch.
Also included are the matching Lakers warm-up pants. They have Adidas with tagging in the waistband – XLT (tall) with his jersey number “2” hand written in black felt tip. Included with the uniform is a provenance letter from Fisher’s personal friend and how he obtained the items as they were given to him.
Derek Fisher played professionally in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 18 seasons, spending the majority of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he won five NBA championships. He also played for the Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Dallas Mavericks. He has also served as president of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).
