Presented is a rare team-signed Green Bay Packers 1966 Super Bowl I NFL football. It originated from one of the team members, John Rowser. The AFL and NFL merged in 1966,  and the game became known as the “First AFL-NFL World Championship Game” or the “Supergame.” The NFL (now NFC) powerhouse Green Bay Packers led by Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi took on the best from the AFL (now AFC) in the Kansas City Chiefs. The Super Bowl was indeed born.

The football is the NFL “GREEN BAY PACKERS – WORLD CHAMPIONS 1966” model and it is stamped accordingly. The majority of the roster that was comprised of 40+ players in 1966 autographed the football.  They signed it in black pen in varying levels of quality. Many of the key autographs are dicernible like Vince Lombardi, Dave Hanner (Defensive line coach), Bob Schnelker (offensive end coach), Phil Bengston (defensive coach), Jerry Burns (defensive backfield coach), Ray Wietecha, Tom Mccormick (Offensive Backfield Coach). The rest of the signatures are light or illegible. Other key players presumed on the football are Herb Adderly, Bob Brown, Jerry Kramer, Bob Long Ray Nitschke and Bart Starr.

This football originates from John Rowser who kept it in his family for all of these years (50+). It was his personal signed football he kept along with a program. Rowser was an American football player, a defensive back in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Denver Broncos. In his rookie season, he was a member of the Packers’ Super Bowl II championship team, Vince Lombardi’s last title. He played college football at the University of Michigan as a cornerback and halfback, from 1963 to 1966.
