Description
Between 1970 and 1976, Tom Seaver led the National League in strikeouts five times, while also finishing second in 1972 and third in 1974. Seaver also won three earned run average titles as a Met. Seaver ended his career as a 3× NL Cy Young Award winner (1969, 1973, 1975). A famous quotes about Seaver is attributed to Reggie Jackson: “Blind men come to the park just to hear him pitch.”
As a reward for Tom Seaver’s remarkable 1974 season with the New York Mets, bat manufacturer Adirondack presented him with this impressive 3 foot tall “Big Stick” Award.
This gigantic award features three Tom Seaver signature game-model Adirondack bats (33″), crisscrossing at the handles upon which a 10″ wooden piece with a brass plaque attached showcases “Adirondack Big Stick Award”. The bats are mounted on a life size wooden home plate base on which is an engraved brass plate “1974 DOWNTOWN AC NITE OF CHAMPIONS AWARD – TOM SEAVER”.
Note, there’s some expected wear from aging/storage/display but none of which affects its impressive presentation quality.
The award also includes a photo match of Tom Seaver with the award at the time of its presentation.
