Description
1976 Orignal Art Book Manuscript of “Gone With The Wind” 200+ Handrawn Illustrations – Vivien Leigh etc. (McCulty Collection)
This originates from the Don Leigh McCulty collection. Back in the day, McCulty was the Vivien Leigh fan club president and archivist. Being the fan club president had its perks, as he was closely connected to her friends (movie stars, photographers) and family.
McCulty’s collection is extensive and supported in provenance by his frequent letters of correspondence with those in Vivien’s inner circle It should be noted that McCulty was particularly fond of rare photographs.
Presented from the McCulty collection is an original illustration art book – manuscript drawn by an Argentinian artist. There are over 200 handrawn illustrations with Spanish notations by the artist. These are all careful, detailed renderings from “Gone with the Wind”. There are two provenance letters from the artist to McCulty. Presumably, these were for the purpose of illustrating a book regarding Vivian Leigh (but were not used by the publisher).
