Description
The 1980-81 Topps Hockey set consists of 264 standard sized cards, that were issued in 2 series. Known as the “scratch-off’ set, because the player’s name is obscured by a black disk, that could be removed with a coin. The only way to discover the players’ names is to scratch-off the black disk, that resembles a hockey puck.
The only 1980-81 Topps Hockey cards that do not have the black scratch-off area, are the last three cards in the set, numbers 263, 264 & 265, and the 2 checklists. The set contains cards of 7 players from USA 1980 Olympic Team that won the gold medal. The cards for players who represented the United States during the 1980 Olympic Games bear a “USA” logo.
Presented is a complete set of 1980 Topps Hockey cards 264/264. The set is anchored by “record breaker” cards of Ray Bourque (#2) and Wayne Gretzky (#3), “all-star” card of Gretzky (#87) as well as his regular issue card (#250), and the rookie card of Bourque (#140), Michel Goulet (#67) and Mike Gartner (#195). It is overall mid-grade condition and the cards have not been scratched off.
