Description
Presented is a signed Barbra Streisand affidavit for a lawsuit against High Society Magazine (German) in 1982. Both the U.S. and German version of the magazine published nude photographs of her from a movie, “The Owl and the Pussycat”. Although she did film one of the scenes topless, the scene was never included in the film. Subsequently, those still photos from the scene were published into High Society Magazine.
The case vs. the United States High Society magazine was settled. This affidavit is for a case going against the German version of the magazine that published the same photos from the movie shoot. It was dated to April 4, 1982. It’s (9) pages long with one page of the document signed by Streisand in black ballpoint (“10”) on the signature line (page 4).
Barbra Streisand’s career began in the early 1960s performing in nightclubs and Broadway theaters. Following guest appearances on various television shows, she signed to Columbia Records—retaining full artistic control in exchange for accepting lower pay, an arrangement that continued throughout her career. Her studio debut The Barbra Streisand Album (1963) won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Throughout her recording career, Streisand has topped the US Billboard 200 chart with 11 albums (the record for a woman until 2023), including People (1964), The Way We Were (1974), Guilty (1980), and The Broadway Album (1985).
Over the 25-year run of High Society Magazine Margot Kidder, Ann-Margret and Barbra Streisand unsuccessfully attempted to sue the magazine after it published nude photos of them.
