Description
Nicknamed “The Meal Ticket” and “King Carl”, Carl Hubbell was an American Major League Baseball player. He was a pitcher for the New York Giants of the National League from 1928 to 1943, and remained on the team’s payroll for the rest of his life, long after their move to San Francisco. Twice voted the National League’s Most Valuable Player, Hubbell was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947.
A left-handed pitcher, Lefty Gomez played in Major League Baseball (MLB) between 1930 and 1943 for the New York Yankees and the Washington Senators. Gomez was a five-time World Series champion with the Yankees. He was also known for his colorful personality and humor throughout his career and life.
Presented is an ONL (Giamatti) baseball autographed by both Carl Hubbell and Lefty Gomez. Hubbell signed it on the sweet spot in blue ballpoint pen (“9”) and Gomez below in blue ballpoint (“9”). The ball itself shows toning/soiling throughout from age.
