Description
Presented is a true rarity! Here a lucky fan obtained the autograph of Hall of Fame baseball trailblazer, Jackie Robinson on his baseball glove. In oportune timing, Robinson signed the glove near the pinky portion (exterior) for the fan in blue ballpoint pen (“6-7” light but legible due to instrument) with the inscription, “Best Wishes”.
The glove itself that the fan carried is a vintage MacGregor baseball glove, model GF60, made in the United States in 1962 (the same year as Robinson’s HOF induction). The glove is brown in color and is the Jim Landis autograph model which features his name in cursive on the front and in the palm. Note, the glove shows use with some darkening in the palm and the intersects between the fingers have detatched.
Jim Landis played as a center fielder on six teams from 1957 through 1967. While playing eight seasons for the Chicago White Sox, he was an American League (AL) All-Star in 1962 and an AL Gold Glove Award winner five consecutive seasons. Landis is considered to be one of the best defensive center fielders in major-league history.
