Civil War Union Army Lt. Col. Robert Charles Clowry Signed, Inscribed “Yours Truly” Portrait 14″ x 14-1/2″ Photo Card . Robert Charles Clowry was born in Will City, Illinois on September 8, 1838 and he went to public school. He married while in the Union Army in 1965. He became a Brevet Major in the Union Army and was later promoted to Lt. Col. in 1865. He was in charge of a military telegraph for the Union Arom from 1863-66. He was honorably discharged from the Union Army in 1866. He then went on to work for the Western Union Telegraph Company and became President and General Manager there from 1902-10. He died on February 26, 1925.
