Description
Presented here is an Orlando Thunder (WLAF) game helmet from the 1990’s. The Ridell helmet features decals on the sides showcasing a lightning bolt with clouds. It features its original padding. The facemask is included by seperate. The interior also has warning stickers inside and “BELL” in black felt tip on tape. Most likely, this helmet was worn by Kerwin Bell that played for the Thunder in 1992. Overall, the rare helmet shows heavy storage/age wear with yellowing, scrapes etc.
The Orlando Thunder was a member of the World League of American Football from 1991 to 1992 (known as NFL Europe from 1995 onwards). The team played their games in the 70,000 seat Florida Citrus Bowl, and was coached by Don Matthews in 1991 and Galen Hall in 1992.
In 1991, Kerwin Bell got a chance to start with the Orlando Thunder of the World League of American Football and threw for 2,214 yards, and was the Thunder’s backup quarterback in 1992 when the team went to the World Bowl.
