Description
Actual hero screen worn royal Siamese headpiece worn by Rita Moreno in her role as Tuptim, in the original movie version of the immortal Rogers and Hammerstein musical “The King And I” (1956). This is the headdress that she wears (with similar headdresses by the other “Greek Chorus”), in the controversial “Small House of Uncle Thomas” play-within-a-play sequence. A striking hand made jewel of a hat, which comes with a long neck antique stand made in the 1880’s Victorian Era. The original headpiece was shaped and covered in dried flowers painted gold. Some of these original flowers remain around the lower-head gear with chin strap, however the remainder of the flowers above it have worn off, exposing the intricate structure construction beneath, along with the original faux-pearls and fax-diamonds. The original top point is also missing, however the point-foundation that it was attached to is still completely intact. Headpiece is approx. 17″x8″. Antique stand is approx. 36″.
