Description
Presented is a Sean Taylor Miami Hurricanes game-worn-away jersey. Adding to the rarity is that the jersey was autographed by Taylor. It is a green Hurricanes jersey, that is multi-layered and designed by Nike. Of note, is the particularly rich hue of orange which showcases the mesh portion of the body. It features Taylor’s number “26” printed on the chest, back, and shoulders in white with green borders.
On the back nameplate, “TAYLOR” is printed across the back shoulders in white lettering. The front chest features a Big East patch, a white Nike swoosh, and the Miami “U” logo. The sides of the jersey are elasticized for fit and accented in orange, green, and white. A size “46” tag with a handwritten “A” designator in black felt tip is sewn in the collar.
Overall, the wear on the jersey is moderate. The body of the jersey features a few hit marks. As previously mentioned, Taylor took the time to autograph the back numeral in black felt tip (“9”). This means it is special in so many ways. Truly a rare find when a Taylor jersey features an autograph. Then, add in that it’s a gamer and you have his approval.
Sean Taylor played college football as a defensive back for the University of Miami, where he was a member of the Hurricanes’ 2001 BCS National Championship team, and earned unanimous All-American honors. Because of his success in college Taylor was selected in the first round of the 2004 draft by the Redskins where he gained a reputation as a hard-hitting player.
Due to his ferocious hits, several of his Redskins teammates nicknamed him “Meast”, from the expression “half man, half beast.” He made one Pro Bowl appearance in 2006. During the 2007 NFL season, Taylor was shot by intruders at his Miami area home and died the next day on November 27.
