Steve Alan Kaufman nicknamed “SAK” by Andy Warhol, was an American pop artist, fine artist, sculptor, stained glass artist, filmmaker, photographer, and humanitarian. His entry into the world of serious pop art began in his teens when he became an assistant to Andy Warhol at The Factory studio.
Steve McQueen nicknamed the “King of Cool” star of the movie Bullitt is a 1968 American action thriller film it was based on the 1963 novel Mute Witness. The film was made by McQueen’s Solar Productions company, with his partner Robert Relyea as executive producer. Released by Warner Bros.-Seven Arts on October 17, 1968, the film was a critical and box-office smash, later winning the Academy Award for Best Film. Bullitt is also notable for its car chase scene through the streets of San Francisco, which is regarded as one of the most influential in movie history.
Presented is one of Kaufman’s original paintings, this one of Steve McQueen from the movie Bullitt and his legendary green 1968 Ford Mustang on a 25″X 36″ oil painting on canvas. Kaufman’s signature “SAK” is on the verso in black felt tip pen (“9”).
