The Stooges got their name and started in a vaudeville act called Ted Healy and his Stooges. Larry Fine later joined Brothers Moe Howard (Moe) and Shemp Howard (Shemp). The original Three Stooges split from Healy, signing on with Columbia Pictures, where they went on to star in over 190 theatrical short movies. When Shemp left the act, he was replaced by his younger brother Jerome, who shaved his head and mustache and adopted the name a rare signed Curly Howard 3 Stooges. His span with the Stooges extended from 19341 to 946 before a stroke resulted in retirement. Shemp rejoined the troop, and the Stooges continued. Our signature is on a leaf that appears to have been removed from an autograph album. There is no date identifier on either side of the sheet, but the signatures are consistent with examples signed in the early-to-mid 1930s. Unlike other examples, the unique quality of this offering is that each Stooge has added his surname. Unlike official documents the trio had signed, this one was penned “Larry (Stooge) Fine, Moe (Stooge) Howard, and Jerry Curly Howard.” This outstanding piece was examined by JSA, which assured its authenticity and afforded each signature a 9 x 10 grade. Curly signed on a 4×4 album page, Larry (Stooges) Fine signed on a 4 x 2 album page & Moe (Stooges) Howard signed on a 4 x 2 album page. Signatures signed black felt pen & grades 9-10. Each signature has its own separate JSA COA
Authentication: JSA Full Letter
