The Pirates of 1944 showed flashes of greatness in an otherwise abysmal decade of ineptitude. It was a measured throng that clicked the turnstiles at Forbes Field that season. But they witnessed a winning campaign as the home nine finished in the National League’s first division. Reliably, there were thrills – Honus Wagner on the sweet spot can be displayed as a single signed baseball. Leo Mackey. Fritz Ostermuller, Frankie Zak, Don Holloway, Of course, many fans made the journey just to gaze upon their favorite son, Honus, as he now plied his coaching duties. All this and more – are now immortalized by the 21 signatures placed on this Worth OL baseball. The medium is about EX – mildly toned with a few acceptable, small stains.
