Description
This 1969 Baltimore Orioles A. L. Championship ring comes directly from the family. “I am Randy Herrera and Chico Salmon was my uncle. I obtained my uncle’s ring, when my mom passed away and it was willed to me. It has been in our family my entire life. I have included personal photos and sports cards of his that were also kept with his personal items and his A.L. Championship Ring.” Featured with this lot are personal photos, the memorial informtion when Chico passed away and other personal effects that solidify the provenance of the ring coming directly from the family.
The Orioles found themselves on the unfortunate side of the Miracle Mets’ first World Championship, but the Orioles were still able to celebrate the first American League pennant in franchise history this tumultuous year. Presented is the physical symbol of that success, a dignified creation by Balfour, whose “14K” stamping appears at interior of the size 11.25 band. Orange stone on face is bounded by text reading “1969 Baltimore A.L. Champions.” Left shank boasts “First Playoff Champions” with a crowned team logo bird in miniature. “Orioles 1969” and the Major League logo adorn the right shank. The ring shows definite wear with the bottom of the ring shape bent flat due to wear and the lettering on the front of the ring has rubbed off. Despite the wear, it is still an incredible Orioles Championship ring from a player with family provenance.
