Description
Lew Alcindor, later known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, perfected the sky hook, an offensive weapon that no one could stop during his reign. At 7′ 2″, Jabbar would use his body to shield this graceful shot as he tossed the ball from his outstretched arm and into the basket. As an amateur, Jabbar led the UCLA Bruins to an unreal 88-2 record and 3 NCAA Championships. The Bruins, led by the big man, won an unimaginable 72 consecutive games during this run. As a pro, Jabbar won six NBA titles as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers.
Presented is an authentic 1969 Topps Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Lew Alcindor) rookie card autographed by the man himself, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. An outstanding black felt tip signature (“Kareem”) decorates the green Bucks shirt area vertically of this otherwise unmarked, early career gum card picturing a young Lew Alcindor. The card itself is vulnerable to more general wear due to its size and is difficult to find well-centered. This particular card which is authentic has chipping (slight paper loss) along the border and a crease running through the top portion.
