Description
Presented is a Boston Red Sox jersey that was worn by Ellis Burks in 1988. It’s a white button down home jersey has “RED SOX” across the front with a “Wilson” manufacturers wash tag, with attached size “44” flag tag. Below this is a white strip tag with the year “88” in black thread. The back has Burks’ number “12”, with all lettering in red on navy blue tackle twill. Evidence of nice wear is apparent all over with tobacco stains, soiling/loose threads etc. Note the back had a number change from a “22” to 12″ presumably to recycle the jersey forward from John Leister (1987) to Burks. For, added value the front exhibits a black felt tip Ellis Burks signature, with a personalization, “To Bill – My Best”.
Ellis Burks played in Major League Baseball for 18 seasons from 1987 to 2004 with the Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, San Francisco Giants, and Cleveland Indians. Burks was a two-time MLB All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and a Gold Glove Award winner. He is a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame.
