Description
Presented is a 2003 Outback Bowl Ring that was given to Ran Carthon. The face of the Valadium ring features a marquis cabochon blue imitation stone with a 3.7mm faceted cubic zirconia set into a square setting on top. The bead set around the center is (16) round faceted cubic zirconias. Embossed around the top is “OUTBACK BOWL 2003”. One shank has embossed, “OUTBACK BOWL” with the logo and “TAMPA BAY”. The other side features the player name and jersey number “CARTHON 33” alonside a football helmet engraved with “Gators”. It is a size 9 with a weight of 27.3 grams. The interior is engraved “YLTM” for the metal content.
Ran Carthon played in 48 games over his career, starting 11 games, for 1,154 plays. Also played in the 2001 Sugar Bowl and 2002 Orange Bowl. Four-year letterwinner. Signed a free agent contract with the Indianapolis Colts in 2004. CAREER: Rushed for 1,353 career yards on 270 carries (5.0 avg) and 11 touchdowns. Had 56 career catches for 511 yards (9.1 avg) and a touchdown. Named team’s “Most Improved Running Back” after 2002 spring drills.
In the third quarter, Florida quarterback Rex Grossman threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Keiwan Ratliff to put Florida up 23–21. Michigan answered with two more touchdown runs by Chris Perry, from 7 and 12 yards out, to lead 35–23. In the fourth quarter, Grossman found wide receiver Aaron Walker for a 3-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 35–30. Adam Finley connected on a 33-yard field goal to increase Michigan’s lead to 38–30, which held up as the final score.
