Description
Boston Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey persevered and employed union labor to have a dramatically-upgraded Fenway Park ready for Opening Day in 1934. The upgrades included the addition of the iconic “Green Monster” in left field. The “Green Monster” replaced the bleachers along the left field line that were previously destroyed by a fire. The park opened to the Boston faithful on April 17th, 1934.
This program was available at Fenway for sale at just ten cents on that Opening Day game (April 17th, 1934). In the game, the road team (Washington Senators) won 6-5 against the Boston Red Sox. The game was full of stars and HOFers with Lefty Grove, Herb Pennock, and Rick Ferrell representing the Sox and Heinie Manush, Joe Cronin, and Moe Berg for the Senators. The offered scorecard/program is intact and it exhibits very mild handling and age-related wear (Near Mint). The interior remains unscored.
