Description
By this imposingly officious instrument, President Benjamin Harrison appointed one Hamilton M. Adams to the office of Postmaster of Huntington, Virginia. Measuring about 17 “x14′, it is also validated by residing Postmaster General, James Wanamaker. The official seal, adorned by a blue silk ribbon, remains intact and the order was executed October 16 1889. Despite its dimensions, it appears that this document was never folded. There’s mild staining along the bottom border which doesn’t encroach on the signatures or any of the print. Uniformly, the ink has faded very slightly to brown, but the president’s signature signed “Benji, Harrison,” is legible grading “9-10.”
