Hank Aaron is still a Home Run King! On April 8, 1974, a crowd of 53,775 people showed up for the a Braves game that broke the attendance record. The game was also broadcast nationally on NBC. In the fourth inning, Hank Aaron hit record breaking home run number 715 off Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Al Downing. Although Dodgers outfielder Bill Buckner nearly went over the outfield fence trying to catch it, the ball flew into the Braves’ bullpen and the First National Bank advertisement sign in left-center field, where relief pitcher Tom House caught it.
Presented from that Aaron’s King era is this 1973-75 Hillerich & Bradsby model A99 Hank Aaron professional model bat that is uncracked and game ready. General scuffing can be seen on the barrel but it is not game use. It measures 35″ with a weight of 31.9 oz. The model number AA9 is stamped into the knob and Aaron’s number “44” is written on the knob in black marker. The best part is that Aaron signed the bat in blue felt tip with the inscription, #755.
