Description
Presented is a typed signed letter authored by Jimmy Durante. Dated to August 13. 1962 this letter (5×8), was a short thank you note for a gift given to Durante for his child. It was signed by the comedian in blue ballpoint pen (“9”) with first name (only). Also included is a black and white promo 8×10 photo of the actor.
Jimmy Durante distinctive gravelly speech, Lower East Side accent, comic language-butchery, jazz-influenced songs, and prominent nose helped make him one of the United States’ most familiar and popular personalities of the 1920s through the 1970s. He often referred to his nose as the schnozzola (Italianization of the American Yiddish slang word schnoz, meaning “big nose”), and the word became his nickname.
