Presented is a one page letter dated December 29, 1976 from John Glenn who was a United States Senator at the time. The letter on page 2 is regarding the future of the National Space Program. He signed the TLS at close in black felt tip (“9”). The letter has compacting folds.
John Glenn was an American Marine Corps aviator, astronaut, businessman, and politician. He was the third American in space and the first American to orbit the Earth, circling it three times in 1962. Following his retirement from NASA, he served from 1974 to 1999 as a U.S. Senator from Ohio; in 1998, he flew into space again at the age of 77.
