Description
The New York Yankees have so many numbers retired that it is fun to go through the list of names along with their easily identifiable number that have made their impact on the diamond. Mickey Mantle is forever identified with wearing #7. Who knows? The Yankees may someday run out of uniform numbers. To this point, they’ve retired 17 of them, more than any other team in baseball.
Mickey Mantle’s No. 7 was retired in 1969, a year after he hung up his spikes. Presented is a stunning Mantle signature on an OAL (Brown) ball inked in ballpoint. Mantle inscribed “No. 7. Signature grades “9.” The baseball itself shows mild toning throughout.
These originated from a longtime collector who acquired a substantial amount of autographs traveling to many trade shows on the East Coast in the 1980’s-90’s. All the signatures along with rare inscriptions in his collection (especially Mickey Mantle) were obtained in person.
