Presented is a Florida Marlins batting helmet worn by Miguel Cabrera during his rookie season in 2003. Heavy wear is exhibited on the Rawlings batting helmet with various scratches on the dark black shell as well as soiling throughout. His jersey number from his rookie season “20” decal is located on the back of the helmet along with the MLB logo. The front has the Florida Marlins decal affixed. The interior features the manufactuer’s logo sticker (Rawlings). The superstar Cabrera also tagged a mint silver paint pen (“9”) signature on the brim of this great piece.
The helmet includes a letter of authentictity from the Flordia Marlins and was presented at the 2004 Spring Training Gala and Fundraiser event in 2004. The letter details that it was from the 2003 rookie season of Cabrera and is a Rawlings [size] 7-3/8.
Debuting in 2003, Miguel Cabrera was a two-time American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) award winner, a four-time AL batting champion, and a 12-time MLB All-Star. He played at first and third base for most of his major league career, but primarily played left and right field before 2006. In his first season, Cabrera batted .268 (84-for-314), with 12 home runs, 62 RBIs, 39 runs, 21 doubles, and three triples in 87 games played and received NL Rookie of the Month honors for both July and September.
