Presented is a Cooperstown Bat from the Famous Players Series featuring Pee Wee Reese. It showcases painted picture of the Dodgers HOFer Reese with an illustration of Ebbetts Field with his career statistics. The barrel is signed by Pee Wee Reese in black felt tip with the date as well as inscription, “July 24, 1987 – Team Captain”. The bat is part of a limited edition and numbered on the knob 128.
Pee Wee Reese played in Major League Baseball as a shortstop for the Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers from 1940 to 1958. A ten-time All-Star, Reese contributed to seven National League championships for the Dodgers and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984. Reese is also famous for his support of his teammate Jackie Robinson, the first black player in the major leagues’ modern era, especially in Robinson’s difficult first years.
