Description
There were many steps to Walt Disney’s success and journey that brought characters with inspirational imagination to the masses. This three-page contract dated to January 12, 1953 was an imporatant document that solidified the accounting and assistance in the establishment of the new amusement park that at the time was tentatively called “Walt Disneyland”. The contract was between Walt Disney Productions and William Hyland.
Fast forward to the modern era and we know that Walt Disney Enterprises eventually did create Disneyland as part of their multibillion-dollar global empire. Here, the contract outlined details within their partnership agreement between Hyland and Disney for accounting not just for the park but within the enterprise. Within it, the clauses also required Hyland to keep the trade secrets in house and behind closed doors. It bears Walt Disney’s signature (and Hyland’s) on the last page in blue steel tip pen (“9”) in his distinctive flowing with flourish manner. Overall, the document is a small but important step in the rocket ship type of momentum Disney created with Disneyland and his operation.
