Presented is an OAL (Brown) baseball autographed by Walt Dropo . He signed it on the sweet spot in a blue ballpoint pen (“9”) with the inscription, “AL 1950 R.O.U.” The ball itself shows toning from age.
Walt Dropo nicknamed “Moose”, was an American college basketball standout and a professional baseball first baseman. During a 13-year career in Major League Baseball, he played for the Boston Red Sox (1949–1952), Detroit Tigers (1952–1954), Chicago White Sox (1955–1958), Cincinnati Redlegs (1958–1959), and Baltimore Orioles (1959–1961). In 1950, Mr. Dropo beat out New York Yankees pitcher Whitey Ford to win AL Rookie of the Year honors after batting .322 with 34 home runs and a league-best 144 RBIs in 136 games. He also made his only All-Star team that year.
